Chapter 34 Are you blind? Of course you are.
"What's your name?"
How did you get kidnapped and brought here?
"It's so cold here, are you cold?"
Why aren't you saying anything? I'm so scared. Please talk to me, okay?
Xiao Jiang regretted sneaking out to play. He lowered his head in frustration. The boy next to him, who had also been caught, didn't say anything either. It's so cold here!
He quietly moved closer to the older brother.
Young Shen Xi leaned against the corner of the wall and glanced at him expressionlessly.
Xiao Jiang thought he hadn't been discovered and continued moving.
"Stay away from me," Xiao Shenxi said in a low, hoarse voice.
Xiao Jiangci's eyes widened suddenly. How did she find out?
He covered his ears with his little hands, pretending not to hear, and slowly moved to the corner of the wall.
Xiao Jiang's fear subsided somewhat. He licked his chapped lips. They had been tied up in the cold storage for a day, and no one had brought them food or drink.
As the temperature dropped, the two teenagers shivered from the cold.
Jiang Ci was so frozen that he lost the ability to think. His trembling hand pressed straight against Shen Xi's hand.
Little Shenxi closed her eyes and curled up, hugging her knees.
Once Xiao Jiangci felt the warmth, he came to his senses in the cold air and saw his short-haired older brother seemingly unconscious in the corner. A nameless fear suddenly gripped the young child.
"Brother, don't sleep, or you won't be able to get up..." Xiao Jiangci's voice was filled with sobs.
The older brother's clothes were torn, and he must be colder than the younger brother. Little Jiang Ci was a little at a loss, so he could only stand up straight and barely wrap his little body around the older brother's neck.
Xiao Shenxi opened her eyes, her eyelashes frosty, and surprisingly didn't scold him: "I wasn't asleep."
Xiao Shenxi was just a little hungry; she hadn't eaten for two days.
Perhaps they felt that their lives were coming to an end.
With a calm expression, Xiao Shenxi whispered to herself, "I'm so hungry."
But the boy who had been huffing and puffing while circling around Xiao Shenxi heard it. He blinked subconsciously, and after a beat of hesitation, took a piece of chocolate out of his pocket and shoved it into the older boy's hand.
"Brother, you eat. You won't be hungry after you eat."
Looking at the exquisite chocolates wrapped in paper, Xiao Shenxi didn't hesitate at all. She opened the wrapper and stuffed them all into her mouth, wolfing them down.
She didn't ask Xiao Jiangci if he still had any, nor did she have any intention of leaving him half a piece.
Xiao Jiangci didn't think anything was wrong; he was even happy that his brother wouldn't be hungry after eating.
The old ventilation fan in the cold storage room hummed and whirred, and the air temperature continued to drop.
Xiao Shenxi regained some strength and glanced at the ventilation fan with her clear black and white eyes.
She suddenly spoke up and asked Xiao Jiangci a question.
Are you rich?
Xiao Jiang thought for a moment, then counted on his fingers, remembering his family's servants discussing the rooftop garden his grandfather had built. The servants whispered, "His family is so rich!"
He mimicked the servant's tone, proudly declaring, "My family is so rich!"
His sudden excited tone made Xiao Shenxi glance at him.
If you have money, you have money. What's that called?
She turned her head away expressionlessly, preferring to ignore it rather than bother herself.
When Xiao Jiang didn't receive a reply from the older brother, she assumed he didn't believe her, and started chattering away:
“My grandma loves flowers, but the flowerbeds in our house were already full, so my grandpa built a rooftop garden in the back attic. It’s huge.”
He straightened his back and kept gesturing with his little hands to show the size. When he saw Xiao Shenxi turning her head away, afraid that she couldn't see him, he ran up to her and gestured again.
"Okay." Xiao Shenxi found him incredibly annoying.
She got up, walked to the vent without looking directly at it, and slowly looked at it.
"Want to go out?" Xiao Shenxi asked, her back to Xiao Jiangci.
Xiao Jiangci followed her like a little tail: "Think about it, I want to go out, I'm freezing!"
Grandma's voice sounded like she was pleading.
Xiao Shenxi nodded. She walked around the cold storage and found an old processing instrument with a very high platform on it.
"Come with me and push the equipment over there."
Xiao Shenxi pointed to the ventilation vent and said.
Xiao Jiang didn't understand, but he still obediently pushed the instrument with his brother.
The instrument was taller than Shen Xi, and the two children couldn't move it at all.
Xiao Jiangci noticed with his sharp eyes that the machine was damaged, and that it was held in place by blocks of ice, which were positioned in a tricky location.
"Brother, it's the ice that's blocking it."
Xiao Shenxi walked over and took a look, a glint of light flashing in her eyes.
She immediately took off her worn-out shoes and poured water under the machine. Xiao Jiangci followed suit, and the ice blocking the machine was washed away and fell to the side.
Taking advantage of his short stature, Xiao Jiangci squeezed under the machine and carried out the ice block.
Using the momentum of the ice water, the two children slowly pushed the machine under the vent.
Xiao Shenxi nimbly climbed onto the platform on the machine, but when she reached out, she couldn't reach it.
"You, come up here."
Xiao Jiangci immediately climbed up and stood next to Xiao Shenxi.
"You squat down, I'll stand on top."
Xiao Jiang wrote this poem.
The two little ones piled up like a human pyramid, and finally, Xiao Shenxi was able to reach the ventilation window.
She quickly unplugged the cord connected to the back of the ventilation fan, and the fan stopped moving.
Xiao Jiangci below was blushing, but he gritted his teeth and remained silent.
The little Shenxi above destroyed the rusty and fragile ventilation fan with almost no effort, and behind it was a passage.
Little Shenxi struggled to put her arms on it, her two little hands gripping the latches tightly, and with a push of her feet, she easily climbed up.
Poor little Jiang Ci, a footprint was kicked into his fair face, and he belatedly realized that he was no longer cold.
"Wait here, let me take a look first."
After saying that, Xiao Shenxi climbed inside. The passageway was only wide enough for one child.
Xiao Jiangci looked up from below with great anticipation, straining to see what was happening.
He was somewhat disappointed; he couldn't see anything.
A moment later, Shen Xi climbed back up. She changed direction and stretched out her hand.
"I'll pull you up."
Xiao Jiangci couldn't reach it at all. He tried his best, but he was still far behind Xiao Shenxi.
Xiao Shenxi didn't say a word, with most of her body sticking out of the window in a dangerous position.
Xiao Jiangci also ran to the machine's sharp blade, standing with one foot next to it and the other foot hanging in mid-air.
And so, Xiao Shenxi finally pulled him up.
Xiao Jiangci followed his brother, crawling slowly through the dark tunnel for an unknown amount of time, until finally they saw the light of dawn.
Unfortunately, the other side of the passage was open, but it was still very high.
If you fall like that, you could be crippled.
But clearly, Xiao Shenxi didn't intend to consider that. She changed direction, turned her legs outward, and jumped off the wall without hesitation, right in front of Xiao Jiangci's horrified eyes.
With a "thud," she fell onto the grass and couldn't get up for a long time.
Xiao Jiangci anxiously called out from above, "Brother, are you alright?"
Xiao Shenxi looked up at the sky, feeling dizzy and lightheaded.
Are you blind? Of course something's wrong.
