Chapter 362: Silly Zhu is silent

Chapter 362: Silly Zhu is silent

Sha Zhu hesitated for a moment, but finally let go of Xu Damao.

"Xu Damao, get out of here!" Sha Zhu said, pointing at the door.

Xu Damao glared at Sha Zhu fiercely, then turned and left the ward.

Sha Zhu looked at Xu Damao's back, his eyes filled with anger and hatred.

Sha Zhu's chest rose and fell violently, and he was breathing heavily like a bellows. He felt a surge of hot blood rushing to his head, and his eyes went dark. Qin Huairu weakly pulled the corner of his clothes and whispered, "Sha Zhu, forget it, don't bother with him..."

Sha Zhu suddenly shook off her hand like an angry bull: "Forget it? He has bullied me right at my doorstep, how can I just let it go? I must teach this bastard a lesson today!" He turned around and was about to chase him out, but was held tightly by Qin Huairu.

"Shazhu, calm down! I...the baby in my belly..." Qin Huairu's face turned pale and beads of sweat rolled down her forehead.

Sha Zhu then remembered that Qin Huairu was still pregnant. He sat back down on the bed, holding his head with both hands, groaning in pain. He paced back and forth in the small ward like a trapped beast, the anger and despair in his heart intertwined and about to devour him.

Qin Huairu looked at Sha Zhu's painful expression, and her heart was like a knife. She knew that she was sorry for Sha Zhu, but what could she do now? She could only cry silently and pray that all this would pass as soon as possible.

The ward was dead silent, with only the intermittent sobbing of Qin Huairu. After a long while, Sha Zhu finally raised his head, his eyes full of fatigue and helplessness.

"Huai Ru, have a good rest. I'll go back first." Sha Zhu's voice was very hoarse.

Qin Huairu nodded and said nothing.

Sha Zhu walked out of the ward, his steps heavy as if filled with lead. He walked aimlessly on the street, feeling that the whole world had become dark. He didn't know where he should go, nor did he know what he should do.

He walked to the entrance of a secluded alley, squatted down, lit a cigarette, and took a deep puff. The smoke covered his face and the pain in his eyes.

He thought of every little thing he had experienced with Qin Huairu, his devotion to her, and his vision for the future. But now, all of this had become a bubble.

He threw the cigarette butt to the ground and crushed it with his foot, then stood up and walked towards the courtyard.

Back at the courtyard, Sha Zhu locked himself in the room and refused to see anyone. He lay on the bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. The scene of Qin Huairu and Xu Damao together kept appearing in his mind, making him feel heartbroken.

He hated Qin Huairu for her betrayal; he also hated Xu Damao for his meanness and shamelessness. But he hated himself even more for his incompetence and for not being able to protect Qin Huairu.

He felt like a fool, being played around by everyone. He felt like a joke, being laughed at by everyone.

He closed his eyes in pain, tears rolling down his eyes.

After an unknown amount of time, Sha Zhu finally fell asleep. In his dream, he saw Qin Huairu, wearing a white wedding dress, walking towards him. He stretched out his hand, wanting to catch her, but she moved further and further away from him, and finally disappeared.

Sha Zhu suddenly woke up and found himself covered in cold sweat. He sat up and looked at the dark night sky outside the window, his heart filled with despair.

He knew that there was no possibility between him and Qin Huairu.

The next day, Sha Zhu went to work as usual. He pulled himself together and tried to look normal. However, his colleagues noticed that something was wrong with him.

"Shazhu, what's wrong with you? Why do you look so bad?" Ma Hua asked with concern.

"It's okay, I just didn't sleep well." Sha Zhu forced a smile.

"Are you still sad about Qin Huairu's matter?" Ma Hua asked cautiously.

Sha Zhu was silent and didn't say anything.

Ma Hua sighed and said, "Shazhu, I know you feel bad, but it has already happened. It's useless to be sad. You should think about what to do in the future."

Sha Zhu raised his head, looked at Ma Hua, and asked, "What do you think I should do?"

Ma Hua thought for a moment and said, "I think you should let Qin Huairu go and start your life again. You are still young and will have many opportunities in the future."

Sha Zhu smiled bitterly and shook his head, saying, "It's not that easy."

"I know it's not easy, but you have to do it. You can't keep living in the past, you have to look forward," Ma Hua said seriously.

Sha Zhu fell silent, and began to think seriously about Ma Hua's words.

Perhaps, Ma Hua was right, he should let go of Qin Huairu and start his life again. But how should he let go? His feelings for Qin Huairu were deep in his bones, how could he just let go?

Just when Sha Zhu was struggling, the door of the cafeteria was suddenly pushed open and a familiar figure walked in.

It’s Qin Huairu.

Sha Zhu looked at Qin Huairu with mixed feelings. He didn't know why Qin Huairu came here, nor did he know how to face her.

Qin Huairu walked up to Sha Zhu, lowered her head, and said, "Sha Zhu, I want to talk to you."

Sha Zhu looked at Qin Huairu, hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded.

"Let's go out and talk." said Sha Zhu.

The two walked outside the cafeteria and found a secluded place to sit down.

"What do you want to talk to me about?" asked Sha Zhu.

Qin Huairu raised her head, looked at Sha Zhu, and said, "Sha Zhu, I...I decided to abort the child."

Sha Zhu was stunned. He didn't expect Qin Huairu to make such a decision.

"Have you...have you really thought it through?" Sha Zhu asked tremblingly.

Qin Huairu nodded and said, "I've thought it through. I can't let this child ruin my life, nor can I let this child become a burden to you and me."

Sha Zhu was silent. He didn't know what to say. He felt sad for Qin Huairu's decision and also for her.

Qin Huairu's tears fell like beads from a broken string. She choked and said, "I...I can't...I can't let this child...drag you down...drag us down..."

Sha Zhu's heart ached as if being stabbed by a knife. He reached out his hand and gently wiped the tears from Qin Huairu's face, and said in a hoarse voice: "Huairu, don't cry, let's work together to find a solution for the child."

"What else can we do?" Qin Huairu raised her head and looked at Sha Zhu in despair. "We...we can't even support ourselves, how...how can we support the children?"

Sha Zhu was silent. He knew that what Qin Huairu said was true. They were both ordinary workers in the factory, with meager wages, barely enough to make ends meet. Add to that Jia Zhang and the three children, and their life was already very difficult. If they had another child, their life would be even more difficult.

"Silly Zhu..." Qin Huairu grabbed Sha Zhu's hand and begged, "Just...just promise me...I...I don't want...I don't want this child...to suffer..."
