Chapter 910 Fate

Chapter 910 Fate

Even as he fought to the very end, no one could fully comprehend his profound sense of responsibility and mission. The burden he carried on his shoulders was one that no one could easily share.

“This is my destiny,” Zhang Hai said in a low voice. “Since I’ve chosen this path, I can only keep going.”

Just then, a thick black fog suddenly appeared on the distant horizon, and enemy troops were silently approaching. Zhang Hai's eyes widened, and he immediately commanded, "Pass down the order: everyone be on high alert! Kikyo Mountain is the last line of defense; there can be no slackening!"

Konoha's defenses began to rapidly assemble, and the soldiers, under Zhang Hai's command, quickly entered combat readiness. Xi Yan quickly joined the medical team's command, preparing for the fierce battle to come. She knew that today might be a matter of life and death for Konoha.

Meanwhile, in the distance, the army of Iwagakure, led by its leader, assembled, tens of thousands of ninja eyeing Konoha with predatory intent. They were prepared to utterly destroy this once-powerful ninja nation through this all-out war. The enemy's momentum surged forth like a raging flood.

Nagato stood on the dark rock, his gaze coldly fixed on Mount Kikyo before him, his mind filled with philosophical contemplation. "The suffering in this world will never cease. No matter how hard I try, I can never make people truly understand each other."

His heart grew increasingly cold, and his former ideals seemed to fade. He realized that peace could not be achieved through morality or compromise. Only through absolute power could the world's suffering be ended.

“If I could control everything,” Nagato whispered, his voice filled with deep determination, “I would become ‘god,’ and then the world would truly be at peace.”

Nagato's eyes gleamed with fanaticism; his thoughts had shifted from initial skepticism about the existence of gods to a thirst for absolute power. In his view, only through the suppression of power could so-called "peace" be forcibly achieved. And to achieve this goal, all adversaries must be destroyed, and a completely new world order must be established.

"This world cannot save itself; only I can." Nagato's voice, cold and resolute, echoed in the empty valley.

Meanwhile, the defensive line at Kikyō Mountain had been deployed, with Zhang Hai standing at the forefront. His eyes were cold, and despite his exhaustion, he remained vigilant. The enemy was closing in; battle was imminent.

"All squads, prepare for battle! Tonight, there can be no slackening!" Zhang Hai's voice, like a war drum, ignited the fighting spirit of every Konoha ninja. Yugao stood to the side, her eyes flashing with determination and worry. She knew that this battle would determine the future of Konoha.

The prelude to battle had arrived, and ninjas from both sides surged towards each other like a flood. Zhang Hai gripped his weapon tightly, directing Konoha's counterattack. He knew in his heart that tonight's battle was crucial; it was not merely a simple conflict, but a life-or-death struggle concerning the survival of Konoha.

“This is just the beginning,” Zhang Hai said to himself in a low voice. “I am ready. I will protect the future of Konoha.”

Standing beneath the gloomy sky, Nagato's purple Rinnegan gleamed with an unusual light. His state of mind seemed to have undergone a radical transformation; his previous confusion and wavering were now replaced by a powerful resolve. As the purple light flashed in his eyes, Nagato finally awakened completely. He was no longer the boy lost in pain, but the one who would use his status as a "god" to change the world.

He took a deep breath, the wind carrying sand and dust across his frozen face. In this moment, his mind was no longer bound by past pain. He was no longer fighting for revenge, but for everything he did for "God," and all of this became more rational, even ruthless. "The world is unworthy of any emotion; only power can destroy all that is unbearable," he murmured to himself, a cold glint in his eyes.

“Pain.” Nagato murmured the name, as if it were not just a code name, but a symbol of his new identity.

His hands slowly came together, his black robes fluttering in the wind, as if a new being was being born from the old body. At this moment, the name Payne meant everything; he was no longer the weak and compassionate boy of the past, but a "god" with the power and responsibility to change the world.

Meanwhile, in the distant shadows, Madara Uchiha narrowed his eyes, watching the figure in the distance gradually grow colder, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.

"Pain has finally fully awakened," Madara murmured, his tone devoid of any satisfaction, only filled with an overwhelming sense of control. He knew all too well that Nagato's transformation was part of a scheme he had long ago laid out, and now, Nagato had completely shed his past self, becoming a cold-blooded being that only the strong could possess.

Madara understood this from the very beginning. Nagato's pain and inner struggle were actually catalysts for his growth. Madara didn't care whether Nagato became a true "god"; he was more concerned with how to use Nagato and Pain's power to achieve his ultimate goal—a world he would rule.

“Every game of chess requires precise calculation, and Nagato is just one of my pieces.” Madara gently stroked a piece in his hand, his eyes gleaming. “His power will be the cornerstone of my plan, while Obito’s transformation is the key to this game.”

Madara had already quietly planned his next move. His focus was not on Nagato's ideals, but on how to bring Obito to the final transformation, how to push him from a still hesitant figure in the shadows into that great revolution. He needed Obito to be the final driving force to overthrow the world's order and reshape a "new world" as he perceived it.

However, at this moment, Madara's ruthlessness was not accepted by everyone. Konan, who had always fought alongside Nagato, was now plunged into deep confusion and anger. Her eyes burned with fury; she knew she was nothing more than a pawn meticulously arranged by Madara, like countless other manipulated destinies, her freedom and choices long since stripped away.

"So we've been used all along." Konan's heart was filled with doubt and resentment towards Nagato, her former comrade now so unfamiliar. She couldn't help but question, "Nagato, why did you choose this path? What do you really want?"

"To change the world." Nagato's voice was devoid of any emotion, his gaze empty and profound. "This world is not worth continuing to exist. Only great power can truly eliminate all suffering."
