Chapter 902 Okay, Let’s Go
Chapter 902 Okay, Let’s Go
Gu Qinming's efficiency was astonishing. In just two days, she and her team meticulously compiled the evidence linking An Yu to her seven-year absence from Antai Technology's operations—a labor contract termination certificate, employment records at third-party companies, and even her annual entry-exit visas. Combined with Teng Zijing's covert coordination, the call from the detention center arrived promptly on the afternoon of the third day.
"Mr. Jing?" Director Xu on the other end of the line said politely, "Ms. An's documents have all been reviewed and approved. You can come and pick her up now."
"Thank you for your hard work, Director Xu." Teng Zijing's voice held a rare warmth. He hung up the phone and looked up at Yu Fei, who was curled up on the sofa. Yu Fei had been staying in the CEO's office at Fengteng International Group for the past two days, curling up on the sofa in the reception area at night. Now, the phone ringing woke him, and he was yawning with his hand covering his mouth, tears welling in the corners of his eyes.
"Let's go." Teng Zijing kicked the sofa leg.
Yu Fei sat up suddenly, rubbing his eyes sleepily. "Hmm? Where are we going?"
"Go pick someone up." Teng Zijing turned around to get his coat, his tone carrying a subtle urgency. "Hey, kid, why don't you go home and stay here for two days? What on earth do you want to do?"
Yu Fei stiffened his neck, looking alert: "I have to keep an eye on you. If you treat Sister An Yu badly, I..."
"What can you do?" Teng Zijing glanced back at him, unable to hide the arrogance in his eyes. "If you have the time, you might as well go back and catch up on some sleep."
"I won't!" Yu Fei leaned back on the sofa like a spoiled child. "I want to follow and see Sister An Yu come out safely with my own eyes."
Teng Zijing didn't bother to argue with him, so he just said "Whatever" and turned around and strode out. Seeing this, Yu Fei immediately jumped up from the sofa, ran after him in his slippers, and yelled, "Wait for me!"
The sound of a Maserati engine rang out downstairs. Yu Fei opened the door and got in the passenger seat. Before he could settle down, he heard Teng Zijing sneer, "If it weren't for Xiaoyu's sake, do you think I would let you sit in the passenger seat? I'm being polite by not abandoning you halfway."
Yu Fei curled his lips, didn't respond, and simply turned to look out the window. The street outside the car window flew backwards, and he felt a rush of anxiety and panic inside him—he longed to see An Yu soon, yet he dreaded seeing her haggard. Beside him, Teng Zijing's grip on the steering wheel was steady, though his fingertips unconsciously rubbing against the leather steering wheel betrayed his hidden nervousness.
As soon as Teng Zijing's car pulled up to the detention center, Yu Fei approached from the back seat, his eyes full of vigilance. "You go in and pick them up. I'll wait here." He gripped the door handle, his knuckles white. "If Sister An Yu loses even a hair, I'll never let you go."
Teng Zijing ignored him. As he pushed open the car door, he was suddenly grabbed by the back of his waist. Yu Fei stood on tiptoe and lowered his voice, "I know you're powerful, but Sister An Yu is innocent. If you dare to have any evil intentions..."
"Let go." Teng Zijing's voice was as cold as ice, and he shook off his wrist with his backhand. Yu Fei stumbled back half a step, his eyes blazing with anger, but he didn't move forward. He knew that if they really came to blows, he would be no match for Teng Zijing, but the desire to protect An Yu was like a thorn, forcing him to stiffen his neck and hold on.
When Teng Zijing led An Yu out, Yu Fei noticed the torn cuffs on her sleeves. His eyes immediately turned red, and he rushed over to pull her behind him: "Sister An Yu, are you okay? Did he bully you?"
An Yu shook her head slightly and was about to say something when she saw Teng Zijing frowning over at her. Yu Fei immediately protected An Yu even tighter, like a cat with its fur standing on end. "What are you looking at? Don't think I don't know what you're up to! Sister An Yu said, it has nothing to do with you anymore!"
"Yu Fei." An Yu tugged at his arm, "Don't do this."
Teng Zijing didn't get angry. He just took out a cloth bag from his pocket and handed it to An Yu: "This is the thing you left with me." Inside was the jade pendant she used to wear. The red string was broken, so he asked a craftsman to reattach it.
Just as An Yi was about to take it, Yu Fei snatched it away and threw it on the ground: "Who wants your things!" He raised his foot to step on it, but An Yi held him back tightly.
"Have you had enough of this?" Teng Zijing finally lost his temper and took a step forward, his aura forcing Yu Fei to shrink back. But Yu Fei glanced at An Yu's pale face and stiffened his neck again, "I'm just making trouble! People like you should stay away from Sister An Yu!"
"Is it your turn to interfere in what's going on between her and me?" Teng Zijing put his hand on Yu Fei's shoulder. With a little force, Yu Fei grimaced in pain, but he didn't even make a sound.
"Enough!" An Yu suddenly spoke with a trembling voice, "Zijing, thank you for sending me out. Yu Fei, let's go." She pulled Yu Fei away without looking back.
Teng Zijing watched their backs, then bent down to pick up the cloth bag from the ground. The jade pendant swayed in the sunlight. The red string was secure, but it wasn't the same string it once was. His fingertips traced the broken mark, his throat tightening. If it weren't for An Yu's protection, he could have ripped Yu Fei's arm off with that blow.
But he didn't move, simply staring at An Yu's back until that pale blue disappeared around the corner. The wind blew up the dust from the ground, blinding him. He raised his hand to rub it, only to find that he was actually a little afraid—afraid that if he really did it, An Yu would be completely disappointed.
