Chapter 1076: Disgust
Chapter 1076: Disgust
Chapter 1076
’Up-Upper Ec-Echelon 1? Father is a literal demon and the strongest one ever?!’ Grey was in such shock that his mind spiraled into deep, confused thoughts.
What was going on?
Everything he knew about Gustav had just flown out the window as he stared at the horrific creature that stood a dozen meters away from him.
A creature that was literally affecting the whole space where he stood with his imposing aura and self.
But how? How was he a demon?
"Ah.... It’s been a while since someone made me use my demon form. When did I even last use it?" Gustav wondered aloud as he rubbed his chin while looking in Grey’s direction with a mock smile.
Then he snapped his fingers immediately, his eyes lighting up.
"Right. The time when I first attacked Arondale. I was forced to use my full demon self, and I still lost."
Grey’s brows knit in confusion.
’It’s been that long? But how?’
Gustav’s lips twitched into a small smile as he looked at the warrior mage.
"Confused? I can see from your face that you don’t understand how this happened, huh?"
Grey slowly twitched and then rose from his belly onto his knees while blood trickled from his mouth.
His mana was completely depleted, but his Dantian was still half full, so he could use his Ki when he needed to.
Even now, he was swirling it around his body because he knew that he would need every bit of that energy in order to avoid what was coming.
From his previous encounters with demons, he knew how fast they could be the higher they went up the ranks.
And since Gustav was Upper Echelon One, he would be incredibly fast, especially if he paired it with his lightning affinity.
Grey might not be able to block what came next. One hit was all it would take for him to lose his life.
He couldn’t risk it here.
But one thing remained, though.
He knew all demons’ weaknesses, which was a powerful strike to their head.
But there was still one confusing thing, though.
’Would it even work against him?’
"Well, to ease your confusion, let me backtrack a bit," Gustav uttered as his black wings beat excitedly.
"... Recall when I said I had encountered a portal after escaping from this world when I had been forgotten? Well, that portal had taken me to the demon realm."
Grey’s eyes stretched wide as he flashed back to the painting he saw in the Emperor’s meeting room.
The portal...
’Is that why I felt the hair on my body rise up when I saw the painting?’
"Yes. In there, I met a trapped Lucifero. He had been trapped by the Celestials. He saw me stumble into his meeting room when he was addressing the other demons. Spotted me, felt my potential, and decided to turn me into a demon.
Unlike any other demon, I didn’t need his power to break into the human world. I could go and come as I pleased. I became his cherished soldier. Years passed, and as I grew stronger, I finally rose to the rank of Upper Echelon two."
’Two?’
"Yes. Two. Do you know who was above me on the number one spot?"
Of course, Grey didn’t reply as he let the man ramble on.
"It was Jim. My Upper Zodiac One."
Grey’s gaze sharpened instantly as dread crept across his body.
’Z-Z-Z-Zodiac One? The same Zodiac that’s with my friends back in town?’
"Yes. Jim was the previous Echelon One, but after I challenged him to a duel and beat him, I took that spot.
For years, for decades, I remained the number one Echelon while he drifted down to number two.
At the end of the day, he decided to follow me, hence we created the Otherworlders together because of a main task Lucifero assigned to us."
"..."
"What task?"
Gustav’s smile widened.
"I’m glad you asked. The task was simple. Cause bloodshed. The more bloodshed and war we ignited, the more his power grew. He loved death a lot, and it was linked to his power and strength.
So if we caused enough death and war and his power grew enough, he would break free from the shackles the Celestials and those blasted Gods put him into, and he would finally be powerful enough to wage war against them."
Gustav’s eyes lit up for a moment as a mischievous smile flashed across his face while pointing at the Supreme Magus.
"... By the way, you have also helped in growing Lucifero’s power unknowingly."
"Huh?" Grey lifted a brow confusedly.
Gustav nodded.
"All the wars you took part in. All the deaths you caused, all the blood you shed had also helped Lucifero in a way to achieve his goal."
"..."
Grey’s frown deepened as he staggered to his feet.
His teeth gnashed in pure anger and hatred as he glared at his father.
"And you decided to take part in this? You decided to bend for the leader of the demons? I have never bent for anybody before, and I thought as a Dawn, we shouldn’t, but you yielded to do his bidding? So what are you now? A slave?"
"..."
"Do you think I yielded because Lucifero asked me to do so? Or because I was scared of him? Heck no! I did it because it was also part of my mission.
My main mission was to bring ruin to Arondale and, in the process, make sure that Blake’s blasted vision came to pass.
So I went from world to world, planet to planet; conquering them all and causing bloodshed. My motive was being completed, and Lucifero was getting the boost he needed. So it was a win-win situation. Nobody loses."
"..."
There was a moment of silence as a Ki sword appeared in Grey’s hand, which he clutched with ground teeth.
"You disgust me."
Gustav just took a step forward, and he vanished from view, reappearing before the Supreme Magus like he had always been there.
The speed was so great that for a moment, Grey was confused whether it was his teleportation magic or it was just pure, sheer speed.
The demon’s fist was shot forward with overwhelming speed that Grey could only widen his eyes in shock for a moment.
