Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 829 - 803: Fighting Fire with Fire

Chapter 829 - 803: Fighting Fire with Fire

As soon as Yu Minglang stepped into the house, his heart was a mess of emotions. While he was away, his wife had turned their home into something this cozy and beautiful, yet he was the one who’d gotten her hurt...

Seeing him like this, Qian immediately leaned over and dropped herself into his arms. She was already used to doing this; only like this would Yu Minglang feel a little less guilty.

Mr. Yu had seen what kind of disaster Yu Minglang had turned the house into before, but when he walked in again now, he almost thought he’d gone to the wrong place.

The ugly wedding apartment had been carefully redone by Qian. The walls and floors that had been wrecked by Xiaoqiang couldn’t be fixed, so after browsing through tons of interior design photos, Qian finally decided to make up for it with soft furnishings.

In the middle of the patchy green floor she’d laid a long-haired white rug, with a European-style coffee table on top. The green now looked like lace trim, just a bit of an accent, adding a lively sense of layering to the room. The gray, uneven wallpaper had a large landscape oil painting hung on it as decoration, using visual tricks to create a sense of depth. The living room not only looked more high-end; it had gone straight from "gym room" level to "international model home."

The pink kids’ room/study was even easier to handle. She laid down carpet, installed a new white ceiling so the color wouldn’t be so monotonous, and built a wall of shelves with a desk and some art pieces, stretching that "countryside romance" aesthetic back to a normal range.

But Qian had basically given up on trying to cure the pink toilet and tiles in the bathroom. That thing was too hard to deal with. Luckily, it was the secondary bedroom’s bathroom, so not many people would normally go in there. Once the door was shut, Minglang’s cheesy straight-man taste was perfectly hidden away.

What Qian was most satisfied with was the bay window in the living room that she’d remodeled. She added a Mediterranean-style arch, paired it with tasteful, well-coordinated cushions, and put in a bookshelf for her favorite books. In her free time, she could sit there, sip tea, and bask in the sun, letting home truly become her relaxing harbor.

Standing in this warm, cozy home he barely recognized, holding his once-lost-and-found treasure of a wife in his arms, Yu Minglang felt nothing but bitter sweetness. He’d almost lost her!

As the person the whole family was currently focused on, Qian was taken to the bedroom and forced to rest. Mrs. Yu took the eldest grandson out shopping, planning to stock up on tonics for Qian. Mr. Yu and his two sons plus the elder brother’s wife were in the living room discussing things.

Mr. Yu patted Yu Minglang on the shoulder. "You’ve got skills, kid. Hero rescues beauty, huh? The finance pages even reported on it. They wrote it like some romance novel and a bunch of little girls are completely smitten. You’ve stolen all the limelight. Tell me, if I copy you, do you think some young girl will fall for me too?"

His little brother had turned into the nation’s boyfriend. Tsk tsk.

"Yu Mingli! What are you thinking! I’m sitting right here!"

Seeing his own wife get mad, the elder brother slipped away with his tail between his legs and went to Qian’s bedroom. He took a check out of his bag and put it on Qian’s bedside. Qian raised an eyebrow.

"Buy yourself some supplements and calm your nerves. Everything happened so fast, I didn’t get a chance to buy you anything to build you up." Mr. Yu snuck a glance at the outer room and lowered his voice. "Qian’er, take this chance to talk some sense into my wife, will you? Tell her not to be so cranky all the time."

He’d just been joking earlier. When his little brother ran into this mess, the elder brother had been furious to the point of exploding. If it weren’t for the fact that his brother had turned misfortune into a blessing—getting in the papers, not being criticized, even receiving unanimous praise from young people and riding high—he would’ve really wanted to take some people and go cripple that entire family of the mentally ill troublemakers. Isn’t it said that mentally ill people killing someone doesn’t count as a crime? He’d get the old hag certified as mentally ill too, save everyone from having to look at her.

Qian shook her head, picked up a pen, and wrote a line for him. He read it and sighed.

"One by one, you all have such a high sense of moral awareness. I can’t even avenge my own brother and sister-in-law. I’m really choking on this frustration."

Qian had written that the PR department had already handled this matter very well, and that Xiaoqiang’s reputation had actually risen because of it, so they shouldn’t stir up trouble at this moment.

When she heard him mention revenge, Qian’s eyes narrowed. She reached up to push her glasses, then remembered they’d been taken off so she could recover, so her hand only brushed her nose. But the moment the elder brother saw this gesture, his interest was piqued.

So the little sister-in-law already had a plan in mind?

Qian herself was also seething over the fact that she’d been strangled unconscious by a lunatic.

Her IQ was higher than most people’s, but her combat power wasn’t. Getting one-hit KO’d by a madwoman and causing her husband such a huge headache—how could she not be simmering?

The matter had been smoothed over, but the more she thought about it, the angrier she got.

Last night she’d lain in Yu Minglang’s arms, listening to him describe what had happened after she passed out that day. The more she mulled it over, the stranger it felt.

If nothing unusual had happened, how could a lunatic who’d just been admitted to a mental health rehab center the day before suddenly be discharged yesterday? And how could she happen to bump into her, just like that?

Qian was absolutely not the kind of person who believed in that many coincidences. She only believed in one truth: when something’s abnormal, there’s something fishy behind it.

Because of this, Xiaoqiang had been blaming himself so much. Qian was definitely going to get to the bottom of it.

She wrote a few lines on the paper for the elder brother. After reading them, he nodded. Qian was asking him to look into why that psychiatric patient had suddenly been discharged, and at the same time, to file a lawsuit against the patient’s mother.

The only way to deal with evil is with harsher methods. With people like that, you have to be ruthless. Why did that lunatic’s mother keep harping on Yu Minglang kicking her?

Obviously because she felt sorry that the lunatic had been hit twice. There really are people like this in the world: the way they hurt others is always taken for granted, but the second they suffer the slightest grievance, they immediately feel the whole world has wronged them.

Besides that, the reason this vicious old crone bit back first was also that she was afraid the institution might bear some joint responsibility for this incident. She wanted to be the first to lodge a complaint and seize the moral high ground.

Qian was going to teach this vicious old woman a lesson.

After reading her plan, the elder brother couldn’t help secretly giving her a mental thumbs-up. Looked like his sister-in-law’s super brain hadn’t been choked stupid. Every step was crystal clear. It’s just that these methods couldn’t exactly be called aboveboard, and Qian couldn’t let Mr. Yu and Mrs. Yu know. In the Yu Family, only the elder brother’s values were close to hers. This was best left for him to handle.

Qian made a "please" gesture to him, meaning she wanted him to keep an eye on the two elders of the Yu Family these next few days. He nodded.

"Don’t worry, little sister-in-law. I’ll definitely get this done for you."
