Chapter 384 1 misunderstanding
Chapter 384 1 misunderstanding
In the hall on the second floor, Bai Qinghuan was talking to Wen Luozhi about things at the manor, and was somewhat surprised to see that Bai Qingyu had arrived so early.
"Qingyu is here"
She stood up and introduced Wen Luozhi and Yan Che to Bai Qingyu.
Bai Qingyu offered a few perfunctory thanks to Yan Che, because in his view, Yan Che was clearly after his sister.
Bai Qinghuan noticed his sour expression and quietly reached behind him to pinch him without batting an eye. "What kind of attitude is that? Be careful, or I'll tell my father when we get back."
She threatened him in a low voice, and Bai Qingyu's expression softened a bit.
When it comes to Wen Luozhi, Bai Qinghuan has a lot to say, and his words are full of appreciation and gratitude for Wen Luozhi.
"Luo Zhi is very thoughtful. She was worried that Xia Chan and I wouldn't be comfortable or safe staying at that small inn, so she insisted that we come over."
"There was no other way, so my sister just shamelessly came to stay for free."
Bai Qingyu never imagined that his older sister had such a heroic deed of saving a hero, let alone that the innkeeper was referring to the girl in front of him.
He explained his trip to the inn, then looked at Yan Che with a slightly apologetic expression, "I'm sorry, Boss Yan, I was being petty and judging you by my own standards."
Yan Che then realized that he had misunderstood; he had thought that Bai Qingyu always looked at people with that arrogant attitude.
"It's alright, it's alright, you guys go ahead and talk, I have to go downstairs."
He finished speaking and left. Bai Qinghuan nudged Bai Qingyu with her elbow and scolded, "Look at the mess you've made!"
"How could I have immediately imagined that the boss was a girl?"
Bai Qingyu scratched his head, now feeling embarrassed.
“I’ve told you many times to get rid of your stereotypes. You think that Mr. Yan’s scholarly appearance is just pretentious, but have you ever considered that he was studying while also running a restaurant?”
Bai Qinghuan tapped his head, and Bai Qingyu stared wide-eyed in surprise, saying, "You really are a scholar?! I thought..."
"I thought……"
His face flushed red with embarrassment, and seeing Wen Luozhi laughing at him, he wished he could find a hole to crawl into.
Bai Qinghuan pressed him down to sit and poured him a cup of tea, looking slightly helpless. "You still think that was just Boss Yan pretending, a way to please me?"
Bai Qingyu was completely humiliated. He sat sullenly at the table, afraid of saying the wrong thing.
"Zhuangzi and Luozhi are cooperating to grow vegetables in the winter. Don't interfere with this; I'll definitely manage it."
Bai Qinghuan patted Bai Qingyu's shoulder, a hint of smugness on her face.
She had a gut feeling that this would definitely work; she didn't know why, she just felt it would.
Bai Qingyu thought to himself, "How is it possible to grow vegetables in winter?" But seeing Bai Qinghuan's high spirits, he didn't pour cold water on her enthusiasm.
Oh well, he's saved up quite a bit of silver.
If he loses money, he can at least help his sister solve her financial problem.
If it works, that would be great; if not, those estates will just have to wait to be sold off.
After dinner, the group went to the nearest estate. Uncle Fu was still a little intimidated when he saw Bai Qingyu.
Because the young master who manages their estate has said more than once that he wants to sell it, and all of them have been following the Bai family for many years.
If Zhuangzi were to sell his property, I truly wouldn't know what to do with it.
"Young Master"
Uncle Fu bowed respectfully, and Bai Qingyu helped him up. Unlike before, when he would immediately start talking about selling the estate.
What has everyone been up to lately?
"Weren't we going to plant vegetables? Is everything ready?"
Uncle Fu was overjoyed and quickly replied, "We can't wait any longer, we're just waiting for the greenhouse to be built!"
The people in the village ask him several times a day, wishing they could plant it right now, but how can it be done so quickly?
Haste makes waste; the food will be delivered in two days, that's when they'll make their appearance.
Suddenly having something to do, everyone on the estate was full of energy, which moved Bai Qingyu.
As they were talking, the topic somehow shifted to Wen Zijin.
"Luo Zhi, how is Young Master Wen's health?"
Bai Qinghuan thought that so many days had passed and she hadn't heard Wen Luozhi mention it, so she simply asked.
Wen Luozhi pointed in the direction of Yan Che's residence and said, "It was fine a couple of days ago, and this morning they even said they would come to thank you tomorrow."
It was a bit inappropriate for them to come to the restaurant the other day, but luckily Bai Qingyu has rented a small courtyard so we can bring our things over.
Bai Qingyu's eyes darted around, a hint of anticipation creeping in. He was very curious about what kind of man could make his sister so willing to go to such lengths.
Two days later, at dawn, as soon as he opened the courtyard gate, he saw a tall and elegant man standing at the entrance. Just by looking at his back, he could feel his extraordinary temperament.
"Young master, who are you looking for?"
Not immediately recalling the matter of Wen Zijin's planned visit mentioned a couple of days ago, Bai Qingyu politely inquired about it.
Wen Zijin turned around, bowed to him, and then spoke in a clear, melodious voice, "May I ask if you are Young Master Bai? Is Miss Bai at home?"
He stood outside the vermilion gate, dressed in a simple yet fitted blue robe, with a jade belt around his waist, which made him appear calm and elegant.
As she spoke, a gentle and warm smile graced her jade-like face, leaving Bai Qingyu momentarily stunned.
"I have prepared some small gifts to express my gratitude, and I hope Miss Bai will accept them."
Wen Zijin turned around to get something, and Bai Qingyu only reacted when the person in front of her moved.
"Ah! My sister's here! You must be Young Master Wen? Please come in."
He took the things from Wen Zijin's hands and warmly welcomed her into the house. Xia Chan heard a sound in the yard and looked out the window, only to see that it was Wen Zijin.
"Miss! It's Young Master Wen who has arrived."
She ran to Bai Qinghuan's side excitedly, her little face turning rosy.
Bai Qinghuan looked at her in confusion, "Why are you so happy? Did Young Master Wen give you money?" she teased with a smile.
"Oh dear, Miss, you don't understand," Xia Chan said, stamping her foot and looking Bai Qinghuan up and down before nodding in satisfaction.
"Young Master Wen is definitely here to see you, Miss, please go out."
She looked at Bai Qinghuan with a smile and then urged her.
"Okay, okay, I'll go out right away," Bai Qinghuan said, finding it amusing but somewhat helpless.
Upon entering the main hall, she immediately saw Bai Qingyu secretly staring at Wen Zijin like a thief, his eyes gleaming.
She was afraid that Wen Zijin would notice and make her feel embarrassed, so she coughed lightly.
"Oh dear, sister, why are you taking so long? Young Master Wen has been waiting for quite a while."
Upon seeing her arrive, Bai Qingyu quickly pulled up a chair for her and sat down next to Wen Zijin.
Bai Qinghuan glanced at him impassively and silently pulled her chair a little further away.
"Miss Bai, thank you for saving me at the inn that day. Please accept my bow."
Wen Zijin stood up and bowed, and Bai Qinghuan, flattered, quickly offered a helping hand.
"Young Master Wen, there's no need for such a grand gesture; it was merely a coincidence that we met."
Among the scholars she encountered, there was none like Wen Zijin; they were all self-important and would never bow to a merchant's daughter like her.
Wen Zijin's action really startled her.
