A Night of Desire

Chapter 247 - 244: Let Him Look His Fill

Chapter 247 - 244: Let Him Look His Fill

She instinctively glanced down, and her face immediately began to burn. She must have been so lost in thought that the thin blanket she was clutching to cover herself had slipped away without her noticing.

Her nightgown was so skimpy it barely covered anything, leaving large patches of her skin exposed.

She snatched the blanket and pulled it back over her body. ’Isn’t it even more dangerous being at home with this hungry wolf?’ she grumbled to herself.

"You... get out!" Clara snapped, mortified.

Deprived of the beautiful view, a flicker of disappointment crossed Seth’s eyes. His gaze returned to her face. "Fine. Come down for some congee when you’re washed up."

With that, he gave her another meaningful look before turning to leave, closing the door behind him.

Seeing him leave, Clara let out a sigh of relief. She quickly got out of bed, but just as she was about to dash to the bathroom, the door opened again. Seth’s face reappeared in the doorway. He spoke to Clara, who was frozen to the spot, with no time to hide:

"I just wanted to tell you, if you need a change of clothes, there are some in the closet."

He closed the door again before Clara could even respond.

The instant the door clicked shut, a small, satisfied smile touched his lips.

’Her nervous, deer-in-the-headlights look... it’s actually pretty cute!’

Seth glanced back at the closed door, a thoughtful expression on his face.

’A night has passed, and she doesn’t seem angry anymore. Does that mean yesterday’s whole incident is over?’

After Seth finally left, Clara tried to console herself. ’He’s already seen everything anyway, so what difference does one more look make?’

’They’ve done far more intimate and embarrassing things. Am I just being overly dramatic now?’

’If he wants to look, let him. It’s not like I’ll lose a chunk of flesh over it. And it’s not like his eyes are going to get stuck staring at me!’

’Yeah, that’s right!’

Her inner pep talk complete, Clara went to the closet to find something to wear. When she opened the doors, she was stunned. At some point, the closet had been filled to the brim with new women’s clothing.

There were clothes of every imaginable style and color.

’Did... did Seth buy all of this too?’

She remembered how he’d bought her a whole box of clothes on the day of the opening ceremony, then several more bags the day before yesterday, and now all of this!

Even back when she was the young lady of the Grant family, she’d never had this many clothes, let alone bought for her all at once.

’With this many clothes, I could wear a different outfit every day for more than half a year and not repeat a single one, couldn’t I?’

’Isn’t he being a little wasteful?’

But then again, the Quinn family was the biggest family in all of Novaria, and Seth was the city’s wealthiest man. What was this little bit of money to him, really?

With that thought, Clara’s conscience was clear. She began to rummage through the vast selection of clothes.

She finally settled on a red short-sleeved T-shirt and a pair of white overalls, then carried them into the bathroom.

After she had washed up and changed, it suddenly occurred to her that she didn’t know where yesterday’s clothes had gone.

She looked everywhere—the laundry hamper, the washing machine, the bathroom, the bedroom—but they were nowhere to be found. Clara even started to suspect that Seth had simply thrown them away after helping her change.

Since she couldn’t find them, she gave up the search and headed downstairs.

Downstairs, Seth was in the kitchen, ladling congee into bowls. His movements were clumsy, a clear sign that he’d probably never done such a thing in his life.

Clara hesitated for a moment, then walked up behind him. "Want me to get that?" she asked.
