Chapter 321: New Product
Chapter 321: New Product
"I’ve known her for quite a long time. I’ve lost count of how many times she’s punched me for being cheeky."
Surely not.
When Qiong Xing looked at Sarin, the man was smiling in a suspiciously unconvincing way.
Deciding it was probably better not to dig any deeper, Qiong Xing turned his attention back to the original purpose of the visit and sampled the completed soy sauce.
"This is amazing. It’s really delicious."
"I already knew the general method because Qiong Xing taught me. And since I knew what it was supposed to taste like, it didn’t actually take that long."
It seemed a little lighter in flavor than the soy sauce that came from the dungeon, but it was by no means inferior and could be used perfectly well in cooking.
Qiong Xing was delighted.
Now there was no need to go out of his way to dive into the dungeon just to get soy sauce.
Going into the dungeon itself was not a problem, but the time it took just to get there was always a hassle.
"That being said, would it be acceptable if we gave Qiong Xing twenty percent of the profits in exchange for allowing us to sell this product, along with the method and inspiration behind its creation?"
"...Huh?"
"I knew it, that’s not enough, is it? Understood! Then thirty percent, and we won’t charge you for any soy sauce! We’ll regularly provide it to you free of charge!"
"I’m in!"
No, no, no, no.
The conversation was moving forward without Qiong Xing even having a chance to say anything.
While Roland’s proposal was incredibly generous, Qiong Xing felt it was far too much.
He persuaded him to leave the soy sauce arrangement as it was and settle for ten percent of the profits instead.
Roland asked him over and over if he was really sure.
"I don’t mind. However, if there’s ever something else you’d like to create in the future, would you be willing to hear me out?"
"Of course! If it’s your idea, I’ll listen anytime, no matter what!"
That was a relief.
Afterward, they discussed things like the sales date and pricing.
Qiong Xing also asked if Roland could sell it to the captain and the others, and Roland happily agreed.
Since they occasionally met and always asked for another meal made with soy sauce, he was sure they would be pleased.
"Do you have any plans after this, Mr. Roland?"
"Nothing in particular."
Then the timing was perfect.
"In that case, would you like to join us for a meal using this soy sauce? After all, tasting the product and understanding its flavor is part of the seller’s job too, isn’t it?"
"Ahahahahaha! I really can’t win against you! You’re right. In that case, I’d be happy to accept the invitation."
Since Roland would be joining them as well, Qiong Xing began thinking about what he should cook as they headed toward the guild.
Along the way, he finally asked something that had been bothering him for quite some time.
"Mr. Roland, the way you speak to me is different from how you speak to everyone else, isn’t it? Why is that?"
At first, Roland had practically worshipped him as a God.
After that, he had spoken normally, but recently he had started using polite speech for some reason.
Obviously, Roland was older, and Qiong Xing was the one asking favors of him, so there was no need for that.
"It is partly because of business, but I am also in the position of learning from you. Thanks to you, my world has expanded."
"That is an exaggeration."
How had it ended up like this?
He was happy that Roland appreciated it, but it felt like things were heading in a strange direction.
"Hehehe, now you have another piece on the board to protect you."
Even Sarin had started saying strange things.
Feeling uneasy, Qiong Xing glanced beside him and found...
"Isn’t it fine? You might as well use him while you can."
The way he said it! The way he said it was terrible!
Qiong Xing only wanted to be friends with people normally, yet somehow things had turned out like this.
He tilted his head in confusion.
...
Even though they were still outside, the ridiculous voices they heard made everyone stop in their tracks for a moment.
"Come on now, we’re saying we’ll take the job. But we’re Rank A adventurers. We can’t accept a request for such pocket change."
"But that is the established reward amount. If you are not satisfied, then please leave."
"Oh, come on. If we don’t take it, who else will? You don’t find Rank A adventurers everywhere."
The way they spoke sounded incredibly foolish.
Sarin walked inside without a word and Qiong Xing’s group followed.
"If you are dissatisfied, then there is no need for you to accept the request. We are not idle either. If you have no intention of taking the job, then leave immediately."
Sarin’s words were perfectly reasonable.
Unfortunately, the men seemed too stupid to even read the atmosphere.
They grinned with smiles that could only be described as vulgar.
"Are you sure you want to say that? If we leave, you’ll be the ones in trouble, won’t you?"
Not understanding what the men was saying, Roland explained that Rank A and Rank S adventurers were valued by both the guild and the nation because of their strength.
They were likely kept within the country for things like national defense and high-difficulty requests.
"But because of that, there are some who get arrogant. High ranking adventurers are certainly rare and skilled, but with attitudes like that, they’re probably not well-l liked by the people around them either."
Qiong Xing nodded at Roland’s explanation and finally understood that these were the troublesome adventurers Sarin had mentioned.
Still, Sarin was no fool.
He was telling them to leave despite fully understanding the situation, yet the men apparently failed to grasp that.
