Chapter 11 Life is More Important
Chapter 11 Life is More Important
“You’re one of the owners of this house now, so who can say anything about you?” Xiao Wu yawned along with Wei Dongning.
Eating too much makes me sleepy, especially since I was forced to turn on my computer this morning.
Wei Dongning nodded in deep agreement: "Little Wu, I think what you said makes a lot of sense."
After saying that, he wiped his mouth and lay down on the bed: "Awesome~"
"Miss, the eldest young master and the second prince sent someone to tell you that they have left first."
Xiao Fu knocked twice on the door from the outside, reminding her through the crack in the door.
Wei Dongning was drowsy and mumbled "Oh," then turned over and went back to sleep.
Wei Xiuming and Su Yizhuo stood at the backyard entrance waiting for a reply, like pillars, for a long time.
"Do you think that little girl will come running over with tears streaming down her face, saying she doesn't want us to leave? I'm afraid I won't be able to resist taking her home." Wei Xiuming gazed into the distance along the path.
Su Yizhu crossed his arms: "I guess not."
He had just paid special attention to the situation in Wei Dongning's courtyard.
The servants could tell from the food they had cleared away that the girl had eaten quite a bit.
I bet he's already dreaming about Erdaogou right now.
The servant returned to tell them that the young mistress had already retired for the night, and Wei Xiuming reluctantly followed Su Yizhuo outside.
As she walked, she muttered to herself, "Sigh, I used to hear everyone call her Third Miss at home, but it really feels awkward to hear them call her Young Madam now."
"I'm going back to the palace, do you want to come with me?" Su Yizhuo couldn't stand it anymore and changed the subject.
Fortunately, Wei Xiuming was successfully swayed and continued along with his topic: "I don't have anything to report to the Emperor, so I won't go with you."
"Okay, fine."
The two walked side by side to the main gate of the Gu residence, and then left in opposite directions.
"Your Highness, shall we go straight back to the palace, or..."
"Return to the palace."
Su Yizhuo had been holding a grudge, and when he happened to encounter the Emperor feeding the fish by the pond in the Imperial Garden, this resentment almost burst out of his head.
If he hadn't taken it upon himself, Ningning wouldn't have had to get married at such a young age.
She even married a guy they didn't know at all.
Although that guy was fairly good-looking.
But you can't eat that.
The Emperor brushed the bread crumbs off his hands and called out to Su Yizhuo, who was about to leave: "Stop! Can't you see me? What, am I sitting too low? Or are your eyes too big?"
Su Yizhuo turned around, pursed his lips, and reluctantly cupped his hands in greeting: "Your subject greets Your Majesty."
How was the wedding banquet today?
"Since you personally arranged the marriage, how could they dare not do it properly? Don't worry, it was a great success."
Su Yizhuo's sarcastic remarks aroused the Emperor's strong dissatisfaction: "You brat, do you want to be kicked?"
After the emperor finished speaking, he raised his leg to kick him.
Before he could even stretch his legs out, Su Yizhuo interrupted, "Father, you're getting on in years, so take it easy. Don't hurt your back. I've had a bit too much to drink today, so I'll go back and rest now."
After saying that, Su Yizhuo walked away.
He was still internally complaining.
I don't know what the Emperor was thinking, at such an old age he still loves gossip so much.
He likes gossip, and like every middle-aged man, he's obsessed with saving face.
I was afraid of being too embarrassed to watch the spectacle, so I just wanted to get something out of them without working for it.
It's all because they're used to it.
The Empress and his mother, the Imperial Concubine, can shut him down for a few days.
The emperor, who had been ruthlessly left behind, glared at the eunuch and said, "This brat, is he getting too cocky? Have I been too lenient with him lately?"
The eunuchs dared not get involved in the "struggle" between the emperor and his son, and could only bow and smile obsequiously.
"Go, go, go, find out for me if there's anything interesting happening at today's wedding banquet."
"This servant will take care of it immediately."
The eunuch waved to someone behind him, and other junior eunuchs quickly came over.
After receiving the order, he hurriedly left.
About half an hour later, the eunuch who had gone to inquire about the situation returned to the Imperial Garden to report: "Your Majesty, there is nothing special about today's banquet."
"Not a commotion at all? Wei Liangzhe is keeping quiet too? I find that hard to believe."
"Your Majesty, there really is nothing. If we're talking about something a little dramatic, perhaps the second son of Prime Minister Jiang accidentally fell into the outhouse while drunk?"
The young eunuch was clearly excited when he told this story.
That notorious playboy in the capital.
He usually enjoys bullying others.
Even the palace eunuchs and maids were harassed by him more than once.
Now that we've finally seen him get his comeuppance, it's enough to set off a firecracker!
"That brat Jiang Xichen? He should be sixteen this year, right?"
"Your Majesty, she is sixteen."
"Isn't Xiuming going back to the frontier in a few days? Let him take this brat with him, just to give him some training."
The head eunuch opened and closed his mouth, wanting to say something, but ultimately swallowed it back.
The Emperor stood with his hands behind his back: "Speak your mind."
"Your Majesty, shouldn't we discuss this matter with the Empress?"
He was, after all, the Empress's own nephew. How dangerous was the battlefield?
The second son of the Jiang family is the only son of this generation, and the entire Jiang family dotes on him.
Although the emperor's actions were indeed intended to save this lost little lamb.
"Am I afraid of her? Go and immediately summon Jiang Bin, Jiang Xichen, and Wei Xiuming to the palace to see me."
The head eunuch turned to leave, but the emperor stopped him again: "Never mind, don't call Jiang Xichen anymore."
He was afraid that if he didn't clean it properly, it would make his Qin Zheng Hall stink as well.
Gu Peiyan was busy entertaining the guests who came to the front yard for the wedding banquet.
After he had settled all the guests, he hurried back to the new house, only to find the door tightly closed and no sound coming from inside.
"Aren't you bored?" Gu Peiyan asked softly as she opened the door.
What they heard was Wei Dongning's soft snoring.
Gu Peiyan stepped forward and saw Wei Dongning sleeping in a bold posture.
The tiny figure filled the entire bed in a starfish shape.
His mouth was slightly open, and a thin silver line was drooping from the corner of his mouth.
Gu Peiyan sighed and resignedly found a handkerchief to wipe away the drool that had flowed from her mouth.
Then he moved her a little further in, and lay down himself, fully clothed.
Just as he was about to fall asleep, Wei Dongning turned over.
The arm seemed to carry the force of a thousand pounds, slamming directly into Gu Peiyan's stomach.
The food at the banquet was almost smashed and made them vomit.
Gu Peiyan turned over and stood up from the bed, took a deep breath, and lay down on the small couch on the other side with her bedding.
The wedding night may be wonderful, but life is more important in comparison.
Xiao Fu came in once in between, but seeing that they were sleeping so soundly, he didn't disturb them again.
Wei Dongning slowly woke up as night deepened.
She quietly got out of bed and, by the light of the wedding candles, tried to find some water to drink.
Whether it was due to the servants' negligence or intentional, only the nuptial wine remained on the table in the room.
Wei Dongning didn't care about anything else and picked up the wine pot to pour it into her mouth.
"Isn't it inappropriate for you to drink this nuptial wine by yourself?"
