Chapter 19: Backfire
Chapter 19: Backfire
Lin Rusi felt a chill run down her spine. She had intended to appear unremarkable in front of Prince Jinglie, hoping not to arouse his interest.
Looking back now, it seems to have backfired.
Lin Rusi could only relieve her inner anxiety by drinking tea.
"I wonder if Miss Lin would be interested in joining me for a boat trip on the lake?"
King Jinglie suddenly made the suggestion.
Lin Rusi was slightly taken aback. Before she could react, Prince Jinglie had already stood up.
He extended his large, slender hand, his smile incredibly alluring. "Let's go."
Lin Rusi frowned. "His Highness just asked for my opinion, and I haven't answered yet."
King Jinglie scoffed, "Then would you be willing to go boating on the lake with me?"
"Unwilling."
Lin Rusi refused decisively.
"It's getting late, my daughter needs to go home soon."
Going home was one reason, and the other was that Lin Rusi was already quite exhausted.
Dealing with King Jinglie is not an easy task.
"I am no longer willing to discuss this with you."
"Let's go boating on the lake."
Lin Rusi: "..."
He absolutely did it on purpose.
Since King Jinglie had already made his decision, Lin Rusi didn't dare to refuse and could only bite the bullet and follow him.
The sun is shining brightly now, and the lake is rippling with clear blue waves; taking a boat trip on the lake is indeed a very enjoyable experience.
Lin Rusi, however, was not in the mood.
Suddenly a red shadow flashed past my eyes, followed by the scent of tulips filling my nostrils.
Lin Rusi frowned, followed the scent and looked up, where a young woman dressed in red and dressed gorgeously filled her vision.
The woman was pretty and stood shyly beside King Jinglie, her eyes full of allure.
Lin Rusi also recognized this person; she was Luo Lan, the daughter of Luo Gang, a first-rank imperial bodyguard.
Luo Lan is notoriously arrogant and domineering in the capital, just as bad as she used to be.
His affection for Prince Jinglie was a well-known fact in the capital.
Luo Lan never shied away from expressing her affection for Prince Jinglie.
Wherever King Jinglie appears, Luo Lan always follows closely behind.
If you can strike up a conversation with him, I've heard that Luo Lan will be happy all day.
If he can't get a word in edgewise, he'll throw a tantrum at home, hitting and scolding the maid.
In short, Luo Lan is not someone to be trifled with.
"Your Highness, what a coincidence."
"We actually managed to meet at the No. 1 Restaurant in the World."
King Jinglie looked at Lin Rusi and said, "The weather is fine today, and there are many tourists at Biqing Lake. It is not really a coincidence that we met."
He walked towards Lin Rusi with a smile on his face, "Miss Lin, let's go."
Lin Rusi thought she would get rid of Prince Jinglie, but unexpectedly he came looking for her again.
Luo Lan then noticed Lin Rusi, who was dressed in plain clothes, her almond-shaped eyes flashing with a sinister light.
Her fierce gaze seemed to want to devour a person alive.
In order to maintain a good impression on King Jinglie, she had to smile, which caused her expression to become somewhat distorted.
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"If the prince hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have known that the second young lady of the Lin family was standing here."
She raised her chin, her gaze towards Lin Rusi filled with utter mockery.
Despite her mockery, Lin Rusi maintained her composure, saying, "Your Highness is an exceptional man, while my daughter is nothing special. It's normal that Miss Luo only noticed Your Highness."
Lin Rusi spoke earnestly, leaving no room for criticism.
This made Luo Lan feel somewhat embarrassed, and she wanted to make a big deal out of this and thoroughly mock Lin Rusi.
Unexpectedly, she didn't compete or fight for anything, and didn't care at all whether she was invisible or not.
