Chapter 244 Eight-Mouthed Fox

Chapter 244 Eight-Mouthed Fox

In the afternoon, the weather turned cool.

The clouds obscured the sky, preventing the sun from shining. Small animals roamed the mountains and forests, grazing and drinking, immersed in their own lives, oblivious to the world around them.

Small animals gathered in the clearing beside the river, with horned hippos and Niger deer huddled together, watching out for predators among the larger beasts.

A sudden roar startled the small animals, who scattered and fled in all directions, fearing an attack from a lurking monster.

At the source of the roar, there was no fanged behemoth, but only a fox with a long tail, holding a roaring stone in its mouth.

The eight-mouthed fox drove away all the outsiders and occupied the entire riverbank alone. It wagged its tail as it came to the river to drink water and enjoyed the peaceful time of gathering spirits.

The Eight-Mouthed Fox doesn't actually have eight mouths. The cunning and insecure little guy himself doesn't understand why anyone would give him that name; it has absolutely no taste.

The term "eight-mouthed fox" doesn't refer to the fox's physical appearance, but rather its ability. The eight-mouthed fox mimics the calls of this monster to help it hunt or escape danger; this tactic is very effective against those who are not quick-witted.

Thanks to this advantage, the Eight-Mouthed Fox has a strong ability to adapt to its environment. Its intelligence and unique abilities allow it to face most monster threats in this world without fear.

However, this ability to mimic requires magical replenishment. When the Eight-Mouthed Fox is gathering energy, it is quite vulnerable to attack. Therefore, in order to ensure its own safety, this little guy needs to take some measures to create an environment that it likes.

The forest, the riverbank, the beautiful mountains and clear waters—a place teeming with life—could be perfect for the eight-mouthed fox who wanted to replenish his magic and leave this place as soon as possible.

As the sun sets in the late afternoon, and the day is coming to an end, the small animals prepare to return to their dens. But in the eyes of some hunters, a hunt is just beginning.

The eight-mouthed fox didn't care about anything else. Now that the giant beasts were basically moving around with humans and no longer participated in hunting, the chances of it being targeted by the giant beasts were greatly reduced.

Such a peaceful environment is a rare find. After absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, wouldn't it be wonderful to stroll under the starry sky?

"Yes, she is indeed very beautiful. A beauty like her would definitely fetch a good price."

A voice I'd never heard before emanated from the shadows, coherent and greedy, sounding human but utterly alien.

The eight-mouthed fox sensed something ominous, but before it could do anything, a flash of light came from the shadows behind it, and a gunshot rang out. A huge net completely imprisoned the eight-mouthed fox.

"Hahaha, look at this guy, he's definitely a 'hot commodity' with special abilities, my detector won't be wrong."

The Nackle alien emerged from the shadows, gun in hand. His skin was deathly pale, covered in irregular red dots, and he wore mimicry equipment and various instruments. His head was black with features resembling red crystals. He stared intently at the Eight-Mouthed Fox, imagining the price he would get when he sold it.

“This fox's fur is quite beautiful, a reddish-brown color, which looks like a healthy color. Why don't we just keep it for ourselves? I know a collector who would definitely pay a high price for this ‘little cutie’.”

"Oh, that's wonderful! It's worth the wait. We'll have to rely on your introduction, brother."

The alien who spoke with the Nackle aliens was an Imperial alien with blue skin that resembled armor, wearing a golden ribbon cloak, pincers on its hands, red eyes, and oral organs on its head.

The two aliens began hunting extensively the moment they arrived on this planet. Relying on the technology and science of the cosmic black market, they could move freely without hindrance. Human civilization, which did not even have firearms, could not even detect them.

The Nackle alien slung the net-catching gun behind his back, while the Imperial alien opened his pincers and threw out a technology box. Upon opening it, they found it filled with monster capsules. No matter how small or giant the beasts were, none could escape the hunt of the two aliens.

"Brother, do you think we can find the legendary mythical beast? I heard that it's highly likely to be on this planet."

"Come on, you really believe what's coming from the black market? That's just a marketing tactic used by unscrupulous merchants to trick you into spending more money."

"But I've heard that cosmic mythical beasts have the ability to make people kings. If we really find one, wouldn't we become the masters of the planet?"

"Ah, the King? I heard it's the ability to eliminate all evil in the universe? I thought it was some young man trying to promote some kind of black-and-white utopianism."

The Nackle aliens and the Empire aliens have differing understandings of the cosmic mythical beasts, and neither of them understands why the other's accounts are so strange.

But the eight-mouthed fox didn't care about any of that. All it wanted now was to escape as quickly as possible. It had never seen humans with such strange appearances before, and it smelled a bizarre and terrifying odor emanating from them.

No matter what, we must not let them catch us, or the consequences could be a more painful demise than being eaten.

The eight-mouthed fox struggled desperately, its limbs flailing on the net, rolling around and kicking up dust. It had to escape, no matter what it took.

"Don't move around, you little rascal. It would be a huge loss if your beautiful fur got damaged. Behave yourself."

The Nackle aliens were unimpressed by the eight-mouthed fox's struggles. As an experienced hunter, they had seen too many prey in a state of hysteria, whether exaggerated or desperate. Each species had its own degree of fear of itself, but they all met the same fate once they fell into their hands.

Nackle took out the pistol from his waist and began loading bullets. There weren't many tranquilizer darts, but they were enough to keep the little guy in front of him asleep for a day and a night.

The eight-mouthed fox was terrified as it looked at the dark muzzle of the gun pointed at it by the otherworldly being. It didn't know if death awaited it in the next second.

To survive, it had to fight to the death; the eight-mouthed fox had no choice but to push itself to its limits.

The wild beast, which had been struggling and thrashing about, suddenly fell silent, its body emitting a faint glow that stood out starkly in the gradually darkening environment.

Neither the Nackle aliens nor the Empire aliens knew what had happened to this fox; their understanding of magic in this world remained superficial.

"What's going on? Is it going to self-destruct? Should I shoot?"

"It wasn't a self-destruction. The fox wasn't emitting any unusual heat, but I still don't understand what it was trying to do."

"If it's not a self-destruction, then I don't care. Once this shot is fired, you won't be able to do anything you want."

The trigger was pulled and a gunshot rang out. The tranquilizer dart hit the eight-mouthed fox and took effect quickly. This was a drug that could even deal with cosmic monsters. The Nackle aliens had specially adjusted the dosage to preserve the most perfect prey.

The excruciating pain of being hit by a bullet is the final spark that ignites potential, and once ignited, it becomes an intensity beyond the Eight-Beaked Fox's own comprehension.

A wolf's howl echoed across the sky, reverberating from the open space on the riverbank to all corners of the land.

This was neither the imposing presence of a giant beast hunting nor the roar of a ferocious beast fighting, but this single sound was enough to summon a horde of war beasts.

A wolf knight's howl for help is the most powerful sound in the world.
