Chapter 51 We can make a pledge
Chapter 51 We can make a pledge
Wei Chen touched his nose.
Actually, he didn't even ask the system about this.
He felt a little guilty after being looked at like that by the Laughing Buddha.
What are the chances of the Laughing Buddha succeeding in his mission to the ancient tomb this time?
100%.
What are the chances of winning the treasure this time?
100%.
Wei Chen then touched his nose and believed it.
The Laughing Buddha looked at Wei Chen with a bewildered expression and said, "Why are you so sure? Don't you use copper coins or other auxiliary props to perform a ritual when you tell fortunes?"
Lian Jiang Hanyi, who was standing next to Wei Chen, said, "Young man, I know you have impressive skills, but some things can't be said so absolutely."
Wei Chen coughed.
They were unaware that they had a system.
He seems to have forgotten that sometimes, a certain amount of formalism is absolutely necessary.
Wei Chen sighed: "Since you want me to do fortune telling, then I'll give it a try."
What's the point of trying?
In truth, you only need to ask yourself the question to know the outcome.
There's absolutely no need to go through all that trouble.
But these two seem to be unable to feel at ease unless they see Wei Chen and do some calculations with their copper coins.
So Wei Chen could only reluctantly stand up, quickly pick up the nine copper coins, shake them, and then throw them onto the table.
Wei Chen used a bit of skill to examine the heads and tails of the copper coins before calmly saying, "A close call, but no real danger." Coin divination has existed for a long time, but it's not always accurate. After all, Wei Chen isn't a nine-star fortune teller yet and doesn't have that kind of skill.
The divination result I just gave out actually indicates a near-certain death.
But the system couldn't possibly deceive Wei Chen. Sure enough, when people are too lazy, their skills deteriorate. Wei Chen held the copper coins in his hand and then realized that they were damaged and didn't feel like genuine copper coins anymore; they must have been switched.
Wei Chen belatedly realized that when the original owner was in the Star Pavilion, he was not well received and it was common for his props to be switched.
Now he's really messed things up with himself. Wei Chen thought to himself, "After this is all over, I must find a chance to go out and buy some equipment, and I have to buy the really good stuff."
We might as well just let the Laughing Buddha pay; he's always been a sucker anyway.
"Is that really so?" The Laughing Buddha breathed a sigh of relief and said happily, "That's good, that's good."
Wei Chen smiled and said, "Shouldn't we talk about income distribution?"
The Laughing Buddha's eyes widened: "What price do you want?"
As the saying goes, talking about money hurts feelings, and talking about feelings hurts money. The group had been drinking and chatting happily, but as soon as the topic of money came up, the monk with the cloth bag immediately became wary, sized up Wei Chen, and clutched his money bag tightly.
Wei Chen gave an innocent smile: "Don't worry, I'm very cheap."
The Laughing Buddha breathed a sigh of relief.
"I want two-fifths of your earnings from the ancient tomb raids." Wei Chen knew the other party wouldn't agree to this condition. "Are you willing to give it to me?"
60%
The system actually realized what was happening and provided an answer.
However, a 60% success rate is not impossible.
With a greater than 50% chance, there's always a chance to negotiate. Negotiation is all about skill. Even with only a 10% chance, there's still a possibility of success. However, Wei Chen's eloquence isn't great, so if there's a 60% chance of success, that would be good too.
Sure enough, when the Laughing Buddha heard the number, he raised his eyebrows and said, "Impossible, I can only give you 500 million at most."
They're only willing to pay money.
Wei Chen smiled and asked, "Is your life more important or your money?"
The Laughing Buddha gritted his teeth: "Ten million is the most I can give."
Wei Chen looked helplessly at his fingernails, as if he could discover some special patterns on them: "I've never lacked money."
Jiang Hanyi looked helpless as he watched the two men confront each other. He knew it was necessary, but when he saw Wei Chen chatting and laughing with the Laughing Buddha, not giving an inch, he still felt somewhat disillusioned.
Wei Chen grinned like a little fox, while the Laughing Buddha gritted his teeth: "What exactly do you want? Let me tell you, 2/5 is impossible. Absolutely impossible. With so many of us going down together, the tomb raiders are the ones who contribute the most. You're just a fortune teller, why should you get so much?"
Wei Chen nodded: "That makes a lot of sense."
The Laughing Buddha's face relaxed considerably: "Yes, although a fortune teller is very important in a team, and he can guide us, it doesn't mean..."
“But with me here, you can avoid a lot of danger.” Wei Chen said calmly, “It is said that every ancient tomb has a safe passage that can avoid all traps and leads directly to the main burial chamber. Only the people who built the tomb back then know about it. If I can find this passage, wouldn’t it make things much easier for you? You only need to take people there to move things.”
The Laughing Buddha stared in disbelief, looked Wei Chen up and down, and then said helplessly, "That's impossible. We have a lot of people. If we give them all to you, we'll starve."
Although he said that, he was surprised by Wei Chen's strength. But after carefully examining Wei Chen, he could tell that Wei Chen was still the same one-star fortune teller.
The Laughing Buddha snorted coldly, but in his heart he thought: With Wei Chen's pathetic appearance, how could he possibly find that legendary safe passage so easily? Even the most powerful thief king doesn't have that ability, let alone a mere fortune teller. If all one-star fortune tellers can find safe passages so easily, what chance do tomb raiders have?
The Laughing Buddha naturally assumed that Wei Chen was just bragging.
Wei Chen didn't mind: "Then 1/5 will do."
The Laughing Buddha pondered for a moment, somewhat uncertain. After examining him closely, Wei Chen asked, "Are you really able to find the safe passage?"
“You can give it a try,” Wei Chen said nonchalantly. “But if I go in first, I’ll choose three burial items from the main tomb chamber. You can divide the rest among yourselves, and just give me 1/5 in the end.”
The Laughing Buddha's eyes widened; he too was torn, unsure whether to believe Wei Chen.
Wei Chen smiled and said, "This suggestion is very good for you. If I accidentally die in the ancient tomb, it has nothing to do with you."
The Laughing Buddha said, "If you really die accidentally in the ancient tomb, your father will definitely come after me."
"We can sign a pledge," Wei Chen grinned, his eyes practically disappearing into his teeth. "How about it?"
