Chapter 1006: The Way to Restore Cultivation
Chapter 1006: The Way to Restore Cultivation
The entire village was full of buildings like this. Every family had a courtyard, and they were not close to each other. There was some distance between the buildings. There was no doubt the living conditions were wonderful.
“You’ll stay here from now on. Since you’re new here, get some rest for now,” said the village chief.
“Thanks.” Lu Ye expressed his gratitude.
The village chief nodded and turned around to leave. Lu Ye watched him leave before leading Dao Thirteen to enter the courtyard.
Much to his surprise, they were given a residence not long after they arrived. However, Lu Ye frowned as soon as he stepped into the courtyard.
That was because the entire place was a mess. Moreover, some blood on the ground hadn’t dried up yet. It was apparent that some people had lost their lives here. Also, the amount of blood on the ground showed that at least five to six people were killed.
When Lu Ye was given the building by the village chief, he wondered where the owner was. Now, he finally realised what had happened.
The previous owner of the house must’ve lost his life, and his entire family had gone to Hell with him.
The blood stains showed that the incident must’ve happened in the past two days. Lu Ye was puzzled as to what danger was hidden in this seemingly well-off village.
Or, perhaps the villagers were the danger. Even if that was true, Lu Ye wasn’t afraid. Although he and Dao Thirteen were only Third-Order Spirit Creek Realm Masters now, they still had their Divine Egos. Moreover, Dao Thirteen had the body of a Divine Ocean Realm Master. Even a Real Lake Realm Master couldn’t harm him.If the villagers intended to harm them, they would suffer a setback.
Lu Ye and Dao Thirteen worked together to clean up the house before settling in.
Moments later, he led Dao Thirteen to leave the courtyard, ready to talk to the village chief to find out some useful information.
Right after he stepped out of the courtyard, he discovered that the entire village was silent. Even the kids, who were playing around earlier, were nowhere in sight. Every door was tightly closed.
Lu Ye looked up and saw that the Sun hadn’t set yet. Speechless, he wondered what the villagers were hiding from.
He then walked across 300 metres and arrived at a courtyard. He had seen the village chief entering the building, so the latter supposedly lived there.
He lifted his hand and knocked on the closed door. A commotion was instantly heard coming from the house. Some kids exclaimed, but their mouths were soon covered.
Following that, the village chief was heard speaking in a trembling voice. “Who is it…”
“It’s me, Village Chief,” Lu Ye replied.
“Who are you!?”
“The one who sought shelter today.”
As soon as Lu Ye finished speaking, he heard someone letting out a breath of relief from the inside. The village chief said in a calmer voice, “Whatever you want to say, come again tomorrow. It’s getting dark now, so you’d better get some rest.”
[Why would I get any rest when the Sun hasn’t set yet?]
Since the village chief had said so, Lu Ye could only oblige and return to his residence with Dao Thirteen.
The village was completely silent as if no one lived here. Walking along the empty streets, he could hear kids crying from time to time, but their mouths were soon covered by the adults. These people seemed afraid to make any noise. Lu Ye furrowed his brows, wondering what was going on in this world.
The night went by in silence. The next day, the villagers only showed up when the sky was fully bright. Kids were seen having fun around the village.
Before Lu Ye even went to look for the village chief, the latter had come to him.
His eyes were still bloodshot, so it was apparent he hadn’t gotten some proper rest. He glanced at Lu Ye with displeasure. “Don’t wander around when it’s nighttime. Don’t you know this rule when you’re already an adult?”
Lu Ye wanted to ask why, but if he did that, his ignorance would be exposed. As such, he could only dip his head. “I’ll keep that in mind. Sorry about that.”
Only then did the village chief don a milder expression as he said, “I don’t care where you come from. Since you’re in Cangnan Village now, you’re part of us. What did you do in your previous village?”
Lu Ye asked cautiously, “What can we do here?”
“We either work on the Spirit Farm or go to the mountain for hunting. Although it’s a grim world, we still have to live.”
His words suggested that life had been tough for everyone in this world. Lu Ye instantly understood that the village chief had come to assign a job to him. It wasn’t surprising, though. Since Lu Ye was now part of the village, he couldn’t get his stuff for free.
“We’ll go to the mountain to hunt some beasts, then.”
He had never worked on a Spirit Farm before. In comparison, it was much easier to catch some beasts. He and Dao Thirteen had killed some beasts while in the forest.
The village chief nodded. “Since both of you are cultivators, it’s a waste of talent for you to work on a Spirit Farm. In that case, you’ll follow Zhang Wuge’s team to go to the mountain today.”
He then beckoned to them. “Come with me.”
They followed the village chief to the village entrance where several teams had gathered. It was apparent that they were going to catch some beasts on the mountain. The village chief brought the two of them to a team. Zhang Wuge was the team leader that the village chief had mentioned.
Zhang Wuge was a man with tan skin. He looked younger than 30 years old.
“Zhang Wuge, the two of them will be part of your team from now on,” announced the village chief.
Naturally, Zhang Wuge wouldn’t turn him down. He nodded and replied, “Sure.”
“It’s getting late. Let’s set off now. You have to come back before Sunset,” ordered the village chief.
The teams then parted ways and headed to the mountain from different directions. Lu Ye and Dao Thirteen were part of Zhang Wuge’s team.
One team consisted of more than ten people who were all cultivators, but they were all in the Spirit Creek Realm. Even Zhang Wuge, who was the strongest among them, was only in the Fifth-Order Spirit Creek Realm.
The other members were taciturn with solemn expressions. It seemed that hunting on the mountain was a dangerous activity.
As the team leader, Zhang Wuge had to look after the new members. He said to Lu Ye, “Our team has to go to the mountain every five days. After we’ve finished our task today, the two of you still have to gather at the village entrance five days later.”
“Sure.” Lu Ye nodded.
There were many beasts on the mountain. Some weak Spirit Beasts would show up sometimes. The hunting session was successful as they had managed to capture many beasts by the afternoon.
During this period, Lu Ye secretly told Dao Thirteen not to showcase his true power. After all, Dao Thirteen was only a Third-Order Spirit Creek Realm Master now. If he was seen with the strength of a Divine Ocean Realm Master, that would be shocking.
They returned to the village with beasts in their hands before Sunset. The village chief was waiting for them. When he saw them, he put on a smile. His expression showed he was relieved.
The other teams soon returned as well. Moments later, beasts of different kinds were piled up at the village entrance.
The village chief took the initiative to distribute the meat. Lu Ye and Dao Thirteen were given around ten kilograms of meat, after which they returned to their residence.
In the courtyard, Dao Thirteen roasted the meat on a fire while Lu Ye spaced out on a long chair.
Someone knocked on the door all of a sudden. Lu Ye lifted his head and saw the village chief holding a bag. Lu Ye scanned it with his Divine Ego and discovered that the bag contained Spirit Rice which the farmers had harvested.
It seemed that the two of them would be rewarded for their work that day.
The village chief soon left the place after passing the Spirit Rice to Lu Ye. The Sun was about to set. During this period, the lively village would become desolate.
As the aroma of meat permeated the place, Lu Ye turned his head and saw Dao Thirteen staring fixedly at the roasted meat.
He stepped forward and picked up a piece of meat before munching on it.
Dao Thirteen glanced fervently at him, not knowing what to do. In the past, he would’ve punched Lu Ye in the face. However, since he had been planted with the Soul Control Glyph, he naturally wouldn’t dare to attack Lu Ye.
Left with no choice, he could only roast the rest of the meat on the fire.
On the other hand, Lu Ye was enjoying the piece of meat. It had to be said that even though Dao Thirteen was dull-witted, he was skilful at roasting meat, which was tasty.
While enjoying his food, Lu Ye suddenly appeared surprised. He straightened up and examined himself.
He wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but he could feel that the restrictive force in his body was dissolving at a quicker pace.
The restrictive force imposed on him by the Heavens was constantly dissipating, though the speed was extremely slow. Therefore, Lu Ye had no idea how long it would take before his cultivation was fully restored if he let the restrictive force disappear on its own.
In the past few days, he had been pondering on how to dispel the restrictive force, but he couldn’t come up with any solution. Now, he finally had an idea.
He quickly gulped down the meat in his hand and activated Gluttonous Feast. His stomach instantly started growling. He could sense that his stomach seemed to have turned into a millstone as it was grinding the meat.
The restrictive force seemed to be dissipating at a quicker pace, but everything returned to normal soon. It was because the essence of the meat he had just devoured had been fully absorbed.
[Can eating meat help with dissolving the restrictive force?] Lu Ye wasn’t sure how it worked, but what he had experienced showed that it was true.
He turned to look at another piece of meat on the fire.
Dao Thirteen stiffened at once. Met with Lu Ye’s eyes, he had a premonition while in a dazed state. Then, he saw Lu Ye picking up the not-fully-cooked meat and devouring it. The meat soon went into Lu Ye’s stomach.
Looking at the empty grill, Dao Thirteen furrowed his brows, but he had no idea what was wrong.
On the other hand, Lu Ye appeared exultant because things were just like what he had speculated. Eating meat could quicken the speed of dissolving the restrictive force.
The next moment, he fished out a lot of meat from his Storage Bag. Since he had to feed Amber and he had a big appetite, he would keep a large amount of meat in his Storage Bag all the time.
The quality of the meat was much better than the beasts they had hunted from the mountain in the day.
Since eating meat could help with dispelling the restrictive force, the problem could be solved easily.
When Dao Thirteen saw Lu Ye fishing out so much meat, he appeared elated. He then worked with Lu Ye to put the meat on the grill.
Moments later, the two of them pigged out on the meat, but Lu Ye scowled. That was because the restrictive force in his body showed no reaction this time.
When he ate meat earlier, the restrictive force was dissipating at a quicker pace, but there was no reaction this time.
Not willing to give up just yet, he gobbled up more pieces of meat, but there was still no reaction. He was puzzled at that moment.
